Singing With Courage Workshop

The Tampa Oratorio Singers and One City Chorus present

A Workshop with Jon Arterton

SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2018        9:30 am – 3:30 pm

Allendale Methodist Church, 3803 Haines Road North, St. Petersburg

Learn to sing freely – with strength, ease and greater confidence

Singing well is a life-long pursuit. There’s always more to learn.  Jon’s workshop guides participants in a supportive environment to a better understanding of how the human voice works through group singing and an examination of the vocal apparatus, breath control, resonance, etc. It's about making sound and finding the voice in a safe and fun environment.

About the Presenter:  Jon Arterton holds a Master’s Degree from The New England Conservatory of Music and an MFA in Acting from Smith College.  He was the founder and musical arranger of the a cappella group The Flirtations seen in the film Philadelphia, and he has appeared on Broadway and in hundreds of plays and musicals. He formed One City Chorus in St. Petersburg two years ago and has seen it grow quickly to over 100 members.

About the presenting groups:

Tampa Oratorio Singers (TOS) is a 50-year old, auditioned choral group specializing in the master works:  Brahms, Mozart, Handel to name a few.  The 60+ members meet once a week, and typically offer 4-5 concerts throughout the year.

One City Chorus, while only 2 years old, has already created quite a buzz in the Greater Tampa area.  A true community chorus where diversity is embraced and harmony promoted.  No auditions, focusing on music related to social issues, civil rights, freedom and equality.

Registration, coffee and get-acquainted time begins at 9:30.

The workshop runs from 10 AM until 3:30 PM with a 90-minute break for lunch.
